It’s officially 2019! It seems like the holidays just flew by, and so much has happened in just a few short weeks.

As you guys may have seen on my Instagram, the start of our holidays was not so great. My mom had an accident while on vacation in Siargao; she drowned and contracted an infection which landed her in the hospital for several days. We were devastated and fervently prayed for her to get better. It’s so hard to see your parents unwell. Luckily, she regained her strength, and was able to go home just before Christmas.

This really put things into perspective for me.  All too often, we’re so consumed with the fervor of the holiday season, with parties and gatherings left and right.  But at the end of it all, what matters is getting to spend quality time with your family, and being thankful for blessings of good health, friendship and love.

There was a lot to be thankful for in 2018. While most of my year was focused on my family, I found myself getting back into the swing of things in late 2018. Being a working mom is not always easy, but I’m glad I’m able to juggle it well so that at the end of my work days, I can come home and relax with my family.

Here’s a recap of my year, and some of the blessings I am grateful for.

My bubba Kai

Hello 🤗

When I found out I was pregnant for the second time, I resolved to do some things a little differently this time around in terms of taking it easy and loving my growing baby. Nothing could have prepared me though for the intense love I felt for our little Kai when he finally decided to come into the world! He brings so much joy to Chard, his Kuya Zion, and me. Adjusting to being a family of four was not without its challenges, but it has definitely paid off. Kai is 9 months going on 10 now, and while his Kuya Zion is his best friend, we have made wonderful memories as a family through the months. I can’t believe he will be one year old soon!

Early this year, we had a simple no-fuss get together of our friends and family to celebrate our baby. It was so much fun! Everyone had a good time participating in the games and expressing their well-wishes to our family. You can read all about it here. Around this time, we were slowly getting Zion used to the idea of becoming a big brother, too.

Our Europe trip

The other biggest highlight of my year was getting to go to Switzerland and Spain with my family.  Switzerland is one of the places close to my heart since I grew up there, and some of my best friends are still there. Chard also proposed to me at the Matterhorn in 2017. 😉

So it’s wonderful that we are able to create even more special memories as a family here. We got to stay in wonderful places in Geneva, Zurich, and Zermatt, and spent our days exploring the cities and hitting the slopes.

Working with new and old brands

I’m always thankful to the brands I work with for trusting in me! Cetaphil got me as their brand ambassador late this year. I’m a real beauty junkie, but a good skincare routine helps your skin look best whether you’re made up or not.

I also worked with KJM Cosmetics, showing Filipinas that you can achieve that gorgeous just-bitten flush easily.

Of course, Bench has always been a delight to work with even after so many years. I’m thankful that they have trusted Chard, Zion, and I to endorse their products, and I hope you enjoyed their holiday releases as much as we did. 🙂 I am also very very excited to be working with a new brand this 2019, but I can’t announce this yet. Do stay tuned! Any guesses?

My Metro Magazine cover

This is a first for me, being photographed with both my kids for a magazine shoot! Aren’t they adorable? 🙂

While my 2018 was staunchly focused on my family, it seems like 2019 has a lot in store, too. And the first on my list is wedding planning! I think it’s finally time to start gathering ideas and inspiration for when Chard and I say I do at the altar. I’d also like to really get back into work now and continue to make you guys happy. 🙂

Before I leave you to the rest of your weekend, I’d like to thank you so much for your support and for reading my blog over this past year! It started out as a way for me to chronicle my pregnancy, but turned into a way for me to connect with you guys more. <3 Please leave me a comment and let me know what you’ve got planned this year, or what else you would like to see from my blog. I’m always reading your sweet notes!
