I let my nieces Venice and Lorin do my makeup in this video. Apart from all the laughing and me thinking very deeply if I’ll ever do this again (just kidding!), they shared some of their makeup tips as well!
Venice and Lorin are teenagers, but they really know how to contour and blend and line! (What was I even doing at their age?) While there were some uneven wings going on, I thought the end result was pretty nice!
Watch the video and let me know what you thought of the final look! In the meantime, here are some useful tips and tricks to help you have those brows (and everything else) on fleek!
Start with your eye makeup.
If you start the usual way with primer and foundation before doing your eye makeup, you could be dealing with fallout! There are some beautiful eyeshadows out there that look gorgeous on your lids but are really powdery in texture. Solve this problem by starting out with your eye makeup first. Sweep off any powdery eyeshadow stuck to your cheeks, and you’re ready for primer.
Maintain proper hygiene.
It’s so tempting to just do your makeup and go. However, it’s important to maintain cleanliness after you’re done. Make sure any cream products are covered and stored. Powder products like eyeshadows, highlighters, and bronzers should also be kept covered and cleaned. Makeup brushes should be washed ideally after each use, but you can do it once a week. Just use makeup sanitizing spray in between uses. This is important especially if you are doing makeup for someone else using your own tools. Also have a good amount of clean cotton pads, Q-tips, and other one-use items.
Concealer can help make a blotchy face look super flawless! That doesn’t mean you should spread it all over. A little goes a long way when it comes to concealing products. You can also use the help of a color corrector to mask redness and any blotchy veins on your face.
Let your makeup be on double duty.
Lorin mentioned that she sometimes uses her bronzer as eyeshadow. Many ladies love to buy makeup, but if you like sticking to quality brands, you’ll find that some things can be used for other parts of your face. This gives you a lot more mileage for what you already bought. For example, highlighter can be used for eyeshadow. Some darker matte eyeshadows can be used to contour or bronze. There are even these trendy glittery eyeshadow toppers that you can use for your lips or cheeks as well. Feel free to experiment!
Allow your skin to breathe.
While it’s always fun to put on a fierce, flawless face when you go out, it’s just as important to maintain the quality of your skin. Good skincare is the essential base for any makeup look. It’s like a canvas: your “paint” will go on so much easier. So if you don’t need to be made up, make sure you cleanse, tone, moisturize, protect, and hydrate!
I’m sure there are a ton of makeup tips online, and anything that needs to be shared is already out there. These are just some of the things that happen to work for us, and I hope you keep them in mind too!
