One more month until we meet Kai! February has been somewhat of a slowdown month for me. I have been enjoying these last few weeks of being a small family, basking in the excitement of what is ahead. This time, my February favorites are full of products that let me practice some self-care. Many people will tell you that even as you divide your love and time to the people in your life, you have to leave some over for yourself for your own well-being and happiness.
So with February being a supposed month of love, I took the time to shower love on my family and myself through products and moments. Here is what I’ve loved so far. Let me know if you use any of them—I’d love to hear your thoughts!
I am watching I, Tonya.
Are you a fan of Margot Robbie? Then definitely watch her in this film about the famous figure skater Tonya Harding. It’s an interesting story about Tonya’s incredible effort in rising the ranks to become one of the best skaters in the world. It also details the story of her downfall through her involvement in the attack against her main rival, Nancy Kerrigan. This was one story that shook the figure skating world in the early ’90s. The movie is a dramatic retelling of what went down—a must-watch in my book. I honestly believe Margot Robbie and Allison Janney (who plays Tonya Harding’s mother), have a good chance of winning those Oscars!
I am also watching Call Me By Your Name.
This flick is easily one of the most gorgeous movies I’ve watched in a long time. Call Me By Your Name is a coming-of-age drama that details the young love between two boys. It is a poignant picture of an unusual but real summer romance. I loved the cinematography, especially the scenic shots of the European summer. The wide countrysides and sunshine-dappled cobbled streets just make me want to book a flight to Italy, ASAP. Also, can we just praise Timothée Chalamet’s acting for a moment? 🙂
I am inspired by Jacquemus by Simon Jacquemus.
I love his new collection!!!! Called Le Souk, this collection is heavily inspired by one of Simon Jacquemus’ fave travel destinations: Morrocco. Beautiful earth-colored pieces are complemented with colors of the sea and show off the elegance of a feminine figure. I love that it was inspired by Marrakech, Morocco. My other half! I daydream about Jacquemus’ clothes, bags, and shoes. I’m surely going to be inspired by him when picking out pieces for daily wear in the months ahead.
I am drinking Aivee Water.
There is a lot of information online on what water is best for you: some believe alkaline water has the most benefits, while others say that you can’t go wrong with plain purified water. For me, it’s been all about the water I drink from my Aivee Water bottle. The bottle is a device that gives you hydrogen water. There are many benefits to hydrogen water specific to its antioxidant properties that help strengthen the immune system and reduce inflammation in the body. It also helps increase your metabolism and purify your skin. I also love that it’s incredibly eco-friendly. All you need to bring around is the device which you can refill to regenerate hydrogen water. Bonus: It’s completely safe for pregnant women!
I am loving Lucas Papaw ointment.
You may have seen the ads on Facebook about this interesting little ointment, and let me tell you: I am a believer. Lucas Papaw is more than just a lip balm; it’s a natural ointment with antibacterial properties from papaya. It helps treat minor burns and rashes and can provide some relief from certain skin conditions like eczema. I use Lucas Papaw as a lip balm, to soothe cracked dry skin, and to relieve mosquito bite itches. I have a stash at home because I use it every day.
I am upping the ante with my everyday lipsticks.
If you haven’t noticed so far, I love lipstick. I have so many of them in various flattering or daring shades. A great lipstick can put together your entire outfit and make even the simplest makeup look perfect. I’ve found myself gravitating towards my Dior Addict Lip Tint in Natural Nude as a base. I then line the corners of my lips with Charlotte Tilbury’s Iconic Nude lip liner. I finish it all off with a sweep of Charlotte Tilbury’s Bond Girl lipstick, or Inglot’s lip pencil in Shade 19. Honestly, lipsticks are my vice, and I love so many brands. But lately, I’m really loving the shades and formulas from Tom Ford, Louboutin, and Dior.
I am making time for my after-shower routine.
I’m really making sure that I take care of my body in the form of the products I use. I am careful to use gentle yet effective skincare products but those that are made up of natural ingredients. My latest faves are Aesop’s Bitter Orange Astringent Toner which is a purifying face toner made with witch hazel. I also use their Parsley Seed Anti-Oxidant Facial Hydrating Cream that rejuvenates your skin. Since I’m trying to avoid dry skin and stretch marks, I take the time to massage Clarin’s Tonic Body Treatment Oil on my tummy and thighs to improve skin elasticity. Having a skincare routine is one of the simplest forms of self-care that sets you up for a great day or a great sleep!
And last, but definitely not the least, I am completely in love with the latest addition to our family—Emma!
You might have seen my photos on Instagram of a big fluffy floof with sleepy eyes but a sappy smile. This is Emma the Saint Bernard, our gentle giant! Having a dog around the house means one more cuddle buddy and one more happy face to greet you when you get home. If you can’t tell, Zion is so taken with her already. Chard and I are pretty much in love with her too. Please be warned if I share way too many cute photos of her.
