I was really fortunate to have a baby shower for baby number two this weekend! It was a really casual affair to be quite honest, but we appreciated the time spent with close friends and family to celebrate Chard and I’s second baby. And as you may know, we have a really big family!
With everything that’s going on right now (and with the baby coming), I appreciated the fact that this was one event that happened without much hassle. Aprica took care of all the details and allowed Chard and I to really just enjoy the afternoon with our loved ones. Both the Gutierrezes and the Lahbatis were in attendance.
Like I said, it was all really simple and casual. We just wanted to celebrate with our family and have a good time. Much like during our gender reveal party, Team Sarah and Team Richard battled it out in some fun Minute To Win It-inspired games that had everyone laughing. These included Ping Pong Tic Tac Toe and cup blowing. And in case you were wondering, Team Richard won.
For a low-key event, the details were well-thought out. I loved that this was one afternoon that both our friends and their kids could enjoy. There were popcorn, cotton candy, and lemonade booths so that they could nibble on snacks while the adults were playing a few fun games. 🙂 Ice cream from Arce Dairy kept them even happier throughout.
Zion really loved spending time with his cousins and friends! After the main program was over, all of the kids were just running around and playing. It will be a couple of years before Baby Gutz can keep up with him like that, but I’m sure Zion won’t mind. He’s really great around other kids and having a baby brother is like having a playmate every day!
I absolutely loved the gorgeous white-themed dessert buffet table at the center of the room! We cut a slice out of a three-tier “naked” cake decorated with realistic sugar flowers. Our guests treated themselves to matching cupcakes, candies, and baby-themed cookies. There was no shortage of sweets at this party.
I think the most important news to share from this day is that we have finally picked out a name for the baby: Kai. We chose it because in Hawaiian, Kai means “ocean.” It has other meanings in other languages as well, but this one spoke to us the most.
It really does take a whole village to make sure that things like these unfold smoothly. Huge thanks to Jenna of Aprica for handling everything so that my family didn’t have to worry too much. They also kindly gave us a new stroller for the baby, perfect when we decide to go on leisurely walks around town. I personally have their car seat for Zion, and he enjoys it! Plus, it gives me peace of mind to know that he is safe as well.
The elegant setup of the venue was styled by See Flowers by Carla. I really loved the fresh flowers in the room! Our guests absolutely enjoyed the yummy food prepared by JC the Foodie. The food carts which the kids enjoyed were from Crafty Celebrations. As usual, Nice Print Photography and Andrea Beldua perfectly captured the highlights of the party, as they have for many important moments in our family’s life! Smiley Photobooth let us take home some wacky memories, too. The sweet giveaways were care of InstaMug. The beautiful dessert buffet was prepared by Bombshell Sweets Bar.
In just three months, Kai will be born! I am sure the weeks will just fly by quickly, but believe me when I say that he is loved beyond measure even before he even gets here. After that, it will be a whole new adventure for us!
