2017 has been one great adventure! I know a lot of people like to use this term to describe the year that was, but I can’t help but feel like it’s so appropriate. It has been full of great memories and milestones.
It’s always a good idea to be thankful for every blessing and stepping stone we’ve had in 2017. We would not have come so far without help from our various partners and teams who have helped make a memorable year. In this blog, I want to share with you all the best moments of my year so far.
I am incredibly grateful for all the steps my career has taken this year. In 2017, I got to work with several great brands.
Being an endorser for Tresemmé has been a dream come true! We got to showcase a number of stylish looks to inspire every Filipina to achieve salon-gorgeous hair anytime.
I also became an endorser for Magnum ice cream! This partnership, in particular, was really fun. I hope you were able to treat yourself to any of their delicious, indulgent flavors, as I have. 😉
In late 2017, I was also able to work with another brand: Close Up. You may have seen the ads for their new Fresh Attraction products, and I’m grateful that they chose to partner with me for their online efforts.
I’ve been partners with some brands for a couple of years now, and I’m thankful that they continue to trust me until now. Alumina products help my skin look its fairest and healthiest. Nido is a brand trusted by so many moms; I’m sure some of you even grew up drinking Nido! To work with a brand with so much history is such an honor, and even I trust Nido 3+ as Zion’s growing-up milk.

My love for makeup will never cease. Inglot has helped me create such on-point makeup looks for quite a while now. I have had so much fun playing around with new looks through their quality products.
Of course, I would be remiss if I didn’t thank one of the brands I have been with for so many years now: Bench. The trust that Bench, as one of the widest-reaching Filipino retail brands, has extended to us over the years has been incredible. Even Zion has joined in some photo shoots!
In general, I’m very grateful for the opportunity to work with brands like these. They have products which help you look good and feel good, which I think is always a winning combination for anyone!
There were a number of highlights for me where my primary gig is concerned as well. 😉 Chard transferring to ABS-CBN and working under the same company are pretty cool! We really do hope for more opportunities to grow and explore the talents we can offer to our fans and to the network.
This year, I starred in the movie Ang Pagsanib Kay Leah Dela Cruz. This was a horror film. It was something more challenging, and really different from the roles I’ve played in the past. I starred as Ruth, a cop who has relocated to a small town. Ruth has her own demons to battle, but she finds herself tangled up in the case of a girl possessed by an evil spirit. If you’re a fan of horror movies and you haven’t watched it yet, please do check this one out!
I had a short break on ASAP (a Sunday variety show where I dance) because I decided to spend some quality time with my family and travel. After that, I went back on the show, and the reception was really good. I went back to performing every Sunday. I can’t do the same moves at the moment, but I’m definitely excited to go back on the ASAP stage after my pregnancy.
2017 was a great year for style, and makeup looks, too! It just goes to show that even if you’re pregnant, you can rock the most beautiful outfits. Take this custom Boom Sason look I wore just a few months ago at Preview’s Best-Dressed Party.
This beaded Boom Sason creation is easily one of my favorite looks of the year. It is so effortlessly chic and did not hide my pregnancy curves. Instead, the dress just highlighted them in such a flattering way. Boom is one of my go-to designers; I have some swimsuits and dresses designed by her. It amazes me how well she combines fashion with a hint of sexy!
Speaking of sexy, Boom also designed this slinky yet sparkly dress. It’s so simple, but again, Boom can really make a woman feel so glam! The sparkly embellished lace is one of her signatures!
I am still completely in love with my Mark Bumgarner outfit for this year’s Star Magic Ball. The sparkly black dress I wore was not exactly a dress—it was a jumpsuit! It fit and felt like a dream. Don’t you just love those petal sleeves? Mark Bumgarner’s creations are simply beautiful, and he really knows how to flatter a woman’s figure!
This breathtaking beaded gown that I wore at the Mega Millennial Ball was too gorgeous for words! Also designed by Mark Bumgarner, it was simply elegant and ethereal. I loved the way it looked in photos, but the tiny details on the gown made it just perfect for a memorable night.
It’s been a great year of exploring makeup. This all-black look from this year’s Preview Party is one of my favorite looks of the year as well. It all came together with the right shade of dark lipstick. In this case, it was the Pat McGrath red glittery lip that made a statement!
Makeup can do so much to help a woman feel more confident. I have experimented with new looks this year, and one of my favorites is this one, using an earth-toned palette paired with nude lips.
Travel and Family
Even as I have worked quite hard this year, it is worth mentioning that I also had much-needed downtime. Some of the trips I have taken this year have become the most memorable of my life so far, with the people I love the most.
First worth mentioning is definitely our family trip to Switzerland and France. I was reunited with my parents, and we got to have both sets of parents together in Switzerland for the first time! We made a lot of memories together while we were in Zermatt, including teaching Zion how to ski for the first time, and, well, getting engaged on March 20. One of the best days of my life. 🙂
It was such a whirlwind experience after Chard proposed. We announced our engagement to the public on our show on E! Following this was another milestone as an engaged couple: our first Preview cover together.
Chard and I took several trips this year, to Sydney and Fiji to name a few. It was an overwhelming and wonderful experience to scuba dive and see tiger and bull sharks in Fiji for the first time. This trip inspired me to be more mindful of the actions I take in caring for the natural resources we have in the world.
With all of these already happening, little did I know that one of the biggest surprises of the year was still to come. Finding out I was pregnant with baby number two was such wonderful news!
After finding out I was pregnant, we decided to do a gender reveal party which was a whole lot of fun. The biggest, happiest news from that day was finding out that I will have another boy! Zion did want a baby brother, and I’m so glad his future playmate will be here soon.
Since we found out we were having another baby, I didn’t want Zion to feel left out. 2017 was also the year I had my first trip alone with Zion to Hong Kong. We just spent some quality time together before the second baby arrives. It was such a hassle-free trip, and we were able to make so many new memories, thanks largely to Access Travel who arranged our trip, and The Upper House HK for our stay in their chic hotel.
There are some pipe dreams that also came true in 2017. Not a lot of people know that I aactually do love to write. So, writing and launching my first ever book True Beauty was such a big deal for me! The icing on top of this cake was selling a successful amount of copies. If you’ve purchased my book, I hope it was a great read for you.
Of course, one of the best highlights of the year is finally launching my own website! This is something I have wanted to do for the longest time. It’s more than just a space for me online. This website is where I can share stuff that I normally can’t on social media. It’s also a place that allows me to get to know you guys more. I hope you continue reading all these things I put out in my corner of the internet. I’ve got some great stuff planned for 2018 that I hope you will be a part of!
2017 has been such a great ride. It has been so full of blessings, for me and for my entire family. I sincerely wish that it has been the same for you. I honestly can’t wait for what the new year has to bring!
